Keep your target clear, in sight, and on line with the BSA 3-9X40 Sweet 22 Rifle Scope. Featuring a quick-change turret system specifically calibrated for multiple grain weights for calibers .17HMR, .22LR, .223, .270, and .30-06, the Sweet series are trajectory compensated scopes for target and varmint shooters or for hunting big game. The trajectory is compensated from 50 to 175 yards, and each scope has fully coated optics, with adjustable objective for parallax along with a one-inch tube. The Sweet 22 is 1/4 MOA, meaning one click will move the bullet 1/4 inch at 100 yards. Note that when zeroing at a different yardage, such as 50 yards, one click will move the bullet only 1/8 inch at 50 yards.
Camera-quality glass provides a clear and undistorted image at any magnifications, and all lenses are fully multi-coated to provide the brightest possible view without glare or reflections. A few pictures of my newest and biggest camera, an Ensign Special Reflex in quarter plate size. The lens here is the standard one, a 6-inch f/4.5 Aldis-Butcher anastigmat. This has lost some paint (most noticably around the aperture markings, which does affect the ease of reading and adjusting the aperture when you have the camera on the strap), but the glass is in really good nick.

The lens-board offers a small amount of rise and fall - about half an inch in each direction.

I had a brainwave the other day, while kicking myself for not getting out in the sun with my Century Graphic. The lens I use most on that is a 127 mm f/4.7 Ysarex. That's five inches, and the Polaroid that the lens came from would take something like 4x5 inch polaroid stuff. Why not fit it on the Ensign, I thought, and see if I can get a slightly wider view. The answer is that it won't make infinity focus; the six-inch Aldis lens is very well sunk in, with about 90% of its length inside the camera. Still, I thought let's try it and see how bad it is. I've made a lens board (out of the hardboard back of one of those hardboard-glass-and-four-clips picture frames), and mounted the lens in it. Since the board has to slide in vertically, you have to fit the board, and then mount the lens, with one hand through the open focal-plane shutter to put the retaining ring on. Not something to do quickly in the field, I think. Anyhow, the focus thing is even worse than I expected; the far limit is under a metre, plus whatever I get by stopping down! I completed the board with a metal plate to let me use the rise though, and I even painted it black, so it doesn't look too bad. I mean to load up a batch of quarter plate and find something that photographs well close up.

The Radcliffe Camera

The circular dome and drum of the Radcliffe Camera is one of the most distinctive landmarks in a city full of distinctive buildings. The camera (the word means simply "room") was built 1737-1749 with ?40,000 bequeathed by Dr John Radcliffe, the royal physician.

The Radcliffe Camera was intended to house a new library, and designs were called for from several leading architects, including Nicholas Hawksmoor (responsible for much of All Soul's College) and James Gibbs.

It was Gibbs who won the competition, with his elegant Palladian design, though his final plans drew heavily on earlier work by Hawksmoor. Gibbs was also responsible for the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, in Trafalgar Square, London.

Originally the library in the Radcliffe Camera held both scientific and general books, but those collections were gradually moved to other University libraries, so that today the Camera functions as the main reading room of the Bodleian Library. The finished building holds some 600,000 books in underground rooms beneath Radcliffe Square.
